It's been a long time because we went over security doors, so we believed it was about time for a refresher. Let's start by advising ourselves what they are and why we need them.
What is a security door, and why do we require them?
Simply put, and as the name suggests, a security door provides improved security and shielding from different unfavorable scenarios and situations; as a consequence they are most likely to be sturdy and of very strong (typically but not always metal) construction, and great care will have been taken on their style. There are several reasons we may need them, primary amongst which are:
avoiding undesirable access (mindful as constantly of emergency situation evacuations).

security-- a style that removes the possibility of fingers getting caught in the door.

PAS 24, like most British Standards, is a ΠΟΡΤΕΣ ΑΣΦΑΛΕΙΑΣ ΑΘΗΝΑ minimum requirement. Although some of the doorsets that pass will be a little stronger than the minimum needed, a minimum standard encourages engineers to create the door to pass at the minimum requirements. This makes financial and environmental sense and the effectiveness of doors certificated to this standard has proven that the minimum levels set by the British Standards were just about area on.
Classes of usage.
Since there are all sorts of various environments where security doors are needed, much of which are used by the public, as you may expect there is a British Standard to assist direct you through what type of door you need: DD171:1987.
The standard sets out 4 levels or classes of usage:.
